How to enable SMS in Gmail and send Free SMS (Updated)
There are sometimes when you would like to send text messages instead of phone calls or emails so Google introduced SMS feature to his Gmail users. Actually, It was enabled few months back but now Pakistani users can take advantage of this features. Currently In Pakistan, it supports Mobilink and Ufone.
SMS in Gmail doesn’t work straight away from your account. You will have to enable it first from the Gmail Lab. Here are the steps you need to follow to enable SMS in Gmail:
How to Enable SMS in Gmail
Step 1: Sign in to Gmail.
Step 2: Click on the gear icon in the upper-right (top right). Drop down menu will appear.

Step 3: Select Gmail settings from drop down menu.

Step 4: Click on Labs Tab.

Step 5: Scroll down until you see “Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat” or press ctrl+f and enter “Text Messaging”.

Step 6: Select Enable.
Step 7: and Scroll down to Save Changes.
This will enable text messaging/SMS in your Gmail chat and you will be able to free SMS! and Pakistan users can send free sms to Mobilink numbers.
